Traffic Jam Hours and Locations Change During Ramadan

Traffic jam hours and locations in Jakarta along Ramadan 1435 Hijri are predicted to change. If in regular day traffic jam hour starts at 5 PM, in fasting month it would happen faster to 3.30 PM because people want to break the fast at home with their family.

“For the first week in fasting month, the roads in central economy areas will be busier than usual. Traffic jam hour would be faster than usual day, starting 3.30 PM because the citizens would break the fast at home with their family,” said City Police Public Relations Division Chief Sr. Comr. Rikwanto, Monday (6/30).

For the second week, traffic jam would be centered in areas which have many culinary spots. This is because many citizens want to break the fast with their colleagues or relatives.

“Those areas are Kemang, Tebet, and Blok M,” he told.

And in the third week, traffic jam would begin to form in areas where there are shopping centers because the citizens are going to shop for Eid ul Fitr needs.

“Such as in Tanah Abang, Blok M, Cipulir, also wholesale centers and malls. While in the fourth week, traffic jam will be around railway stations and bus terminals because many people will go back to their hometowns,” he uttered.

According to Rikwanto, traffic jam level along Ramadan is predicted to increase 25 percent than regular days. And, the locations where traffic jam would happen continuously are connecting areas.

“Accesses to Depok, Bogor, Tangerang and Bekasi will be denser at night. The areas around Istiqlal, Cut Mutia, and Sunda Kelapa mosques will also be jammed during tarawih prayer time,” he informed.

To parse traffic jam in those locations, the City Police have prepared some strategies and dispatched officers to help regulating the traffic.

“This patter is almost the same from year to year. Motorists should also trick the time and routes while riding,” he stated.
